The best camera is the one you use, so if that is your phone, then so be it!
We know phone photography is nothing new, but why do your photos still look like phone photos?
These 5 tips will give you the direction you need, because believe it or not, decent phone photography is a pretty achievable thing to accomplish with the right pointers.
"Then why do MY photos still look average?" I hear you asking..
Let me guide you through these few steps to get you producing better phone images.
1 // Stop the "That'll Do" Attitude:
The trouble with the quick and easy option of phone photography, is that we tend to have a "that'll do" attitude.
Stop, take a moment more and line up your image, get the lighting right and try to avoid wonky horizons.
2 // Don't Let The Domino Effect Happen
The start of the journey to selling your product is to make sure you are giving your product the justice it deserves. You didn't spend all that time to get it to the finish line, only to snap a wonky dark photo.
This applies to all industries, whether you're selling your own hand-made pottery, or doing socials for your short term rental property. If you don't have decent images, your sales will reflect that, and in turn create a chain reaction that will leave you wondering where you went wrong.
3 // Editing- Yes, you CAN edit.
For goodness sake, just take one extra moment out of your day and give your photos a quick joozh. All photos have an inbuilt editing program, but there's plenty of free and cheap apps you can search for to amp up your photos.
Also remember, the people who take the time to learn to edit their images and style them correctly have the advantage over someone who doesn't.
4 // WAIT. It Doesn't Have To Be Photographed Right Now
Lighting is the key to a good photo, so wait for a good overcast day, or when the light is softly coming through your window and have another go at it.
Contrasty shadowy light, when shooting on a phone is near on impossible to make look half decent, so just wait.
